Aren't there programs for people like her?

Ever since I heard her I have been toying with the idea of buying Amy Winehouse's album. And of course the Grammy's brought the debate up in my mind again. Originally my indecisiveness came from questioning the integrity of her artistry. My big problem now is that I know if I buy the CD she is just going to use that money to go right out and buy drugs and alcohol.

Ethically, this is an album you should really feel no guilt downloading; you're doing it for Amy's own good. On the other hand, that argument wouldn't hold up in court, and Amy's CD almost certainly isn't worth the fines you could incur if busted.

The album is worth corrupting her soul. Or, you can pay me and I can send you the MP3s. My soul was corrupted years ago.

People make a big deal about her, and when I finally heard the album, I was as disappointed as women are when they make out with me.

Also, my cousin had the Dap Kings as the band at his wedding, which makes me doubt their integrity. That story would be better if I'd paid any attention to the band at the wedding instead of drinking heavily and telling relatives how boring they were.

I'd buy her the drugs and then video tape it. And then make a killing from selling it to all of the tabloids!

I think she is actually in rehab right now so perhaps you'd be helping on back on the road to wellness.

the album's very good.

Apparently I am an enabler as I purchased her CD a while back. I liked it.

Here's a further conundrum: Would she instead spend the money on more hairspray for the Beehive, releasing more chlorofluorocarbons into the air and thus killing our planet faster?

Maybe you could pay for the album with a hot meal and a clean pair of socks, something you know she can use.

I recommend bittorrent sites.

Everyone needs to chip in to help support her hairdo.

I was gonna say that you could buy her some dental work, but you could buy the entire Beatles, Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin and The Who catalogs for that money.

I also considered buying the album simply for the novelty of it, but realized that is a terrible reason to buy an album (unless of course it's Wierd Al Yankovic).

Isn't she P.J. Harvey's twin sister? If not, she should be.

To kinda/sorta defend PJ Harvey's honor, I shall self-pimp.

Please note this post did not get the "birds I fancy" tag. But after reading your Amy/PJ post I must direct you to this old post of mine.

That old post must have been during my mysterious blogging absence last year, as I totally missed it. Damn. There are several fine choices on that list. Very hard to narrow it down.

but isn't this like giving $$$ to homeless people? The ass-umption is that they'll use it for something sinful, but we can't really know that, can we?

A middle-o-the-road choice which allows you cake and the ability to eat it is to borrow the CD from the li'berry.

Then again, I don't know what the hell you're talking about, but as an Amerikun, I can form opinions and offer advice about shit I know nothing about. I think it's in the Constitution somewhere.

Maybe she'll use the money to get some more tatoos or buy more hairspray. I know from experience that those are addicting as well...

The album has it's moments. Not bad, but not the classic it's made out to be.

What's more troubling is that the damn thing is only 35 minutes long. That's short, even by pop music standards.

Maybe she'll just use your cash for more flowers for her hair? Poppies probably.

I feel the same way. What about buying a used copy? Just a thought to help you out of your ethical dilemma!

I saw her smoking crack.

Well, considering she'll get about 1/4 of a penny for each album sold, you don't have to worry about her going too crazy with it.

That's never stopped me from buying Rolling Stones records.

Amy Winehouse is sooo yesterday (not so subtle hint).
