A Confession

Until EG crossed my path, I knew absolutely nothing about the Smiths. I still don't know very much.

And using a style post in the vein of that other Smiths fan Grant Miller, namechecking EG, with the Smiths as the topic.

Congratulations Red, all of today's Internet points go to you!

What are these "Smiths" that you are referring to?

Hmmm.... I liked "Mr. and Mrs. Smith" when I finally caught it on DVD.... Maybe that's what she means.

Clearly, someone didn't spend enough of the 80s weeping.

Suze,

Perhaps the Smiths just weren't big in Philly-metro. We were busy with Billy Joel in my neck of South Jersey.

McGone,

Aw, shucks, you're makin' me blush!

Pezda's Ghost -

They're a British rock band from the late '80s. Rumor has it they're pretty good ;P

Anon,

You, like me, are unlikely to have listened to them. We live in happier places, and listen to different stuff when we're sad. (Tho' I'm coming to value the Cure for those times.)\

Pistols -

I spent relatively little of the '80s weeping; I didn't turn 12 until '89. _That_ was a pretty weepy year, ditto '90 and '91. But I was a country music fan starting in '86, so I had different stuff to weep to.

I knew I liked you for a reason.

I love the Smiths and have listened to them for close to 25 years.

I still do not fully understand them.
