The Lorenz Hart Lyric of the Week

"Horizontally speaking, he's at his very best."

-Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered

This is a lyric I'm guessing most of you have never heard from a song I would guess many of you know. It's in the third or fourth verse, I believe. The song comes from Pal Joey, but it was a huge pop hit, too. Sinatra and co. rarely recorded more than one verse (and that lyric wouldn't have made it past the censors anyway) but when I heard the complete song it cracked me up. It goes on to say, "He's slept enough, he's kept enough and yet, where it counts, he's adept enough." Good times!

Sweet quote. I love tidbits of knowledge. I can blurt them out and dash away and pretend to know something.

I learn something everytime I stop by. Thanks.

The horizontal one sounds like a Dorothy Parker quote

Brilliant! I know the song, but like you stated I did not know that lyric. Very cool.
