My favourite's still; 'sweetness, I was only joking when I said I'd like to smash every bone in your head' :)

Bigmouth is my favorite Smiths song.

I would also say Bigmouth is tops, though I've had There Is A Light That Never Goes Out in my head for the past year.

As most of you probably realize, I hadn't actually heard the Smiths before I met EG, though I'd heard _of_ them. "Bigmouth..." and "There Is a Light..." are both great, but nothing else in their canon can top "Please, Please, Please Let Me Get What I Want". It's a prayer, and features great work by both Morissey and Marr.

Did you notice the title of my avatar post was a Smith's lyric (minus one letter)?!

I originally came to be familiar with the phrase "The devil will make work for idle hands to do" through the song "What Difference Does it Make?" But I was guessing you were just going for the saying not the lyric. I am touched!

The way I've always heard it are "Idle hands are the devil's workshop/playground". It's probably one of those expressions that has a certain amount of variation.
